MSC Fish and Kids

We all love a trip to the seaside, but how many of us stop to think about the problem of overfishing? Kids love fish fingers, but do they know where fish comes from? One of the aims of the Fish & Kids project is to teach children about marine life and the need to protect the oceans. By choosing MSC-labeled fish, families can support sustainable fishing and play their part in protecting the oceans.

Fishing for Litter - Brixham

This year sees a chance for the children to consider the affect of litter within the waters off the Devon and South West coast. Fishstock have teamed up with staff from Plymouth University Marine Biology Dept to give the children the chance to dress up as scientists and consider the impact that the litter has on marine life. The Fish for Litter Scheme started in Cornwall has now extended to Brixham and local fishermen have been involved in the scheme for some time. This ties in nicely with the children having fun, getting messy, whilst considering the importance of the marine environment.
